The next General Membership Meeting of Local 1482 will be on Monday, June 6 at 7:00 pm.  The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom. To have the login information emailed to you, please submit this RSVP form.  We will send you an email on Sunday, June 5th with the Zoom login for the meeting.  For those who register for the meeting later on June 5th or before 5 pm on June 6th, we will email the login information to you at 5 pm on June 6th.

On Wednesday, May 25th Local 1482 held an in-person meeting at the Central Library to elect four delegates to attend the AFSCME International Convention in Philadelphia in July.  Local 1482 is allowed to send five delegates to the convention.  President Ron Barber is an automatic delegate, and the other four are elected.  The delegates who came out on top in Wednesday's election are:

• Ann Joseph
• Djaz Zulida
• David Jules

Many thanks to members who came out to participate in the election.  Congratulations to our delegates, we hope you find the experience of attending the convention to be rewarding and empowering!

A special meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00 pm to nominate and elect delegates to represent Local 1482 at this year's AFSCME International Convention.  It will be an in-person meeting, and it will be held at the Central Library in the Info Commons Lab.  The nominations and election will be the only business conducted.

Please note that there is an error in the agenda printed on the postcards mailed to members about this meeting.  There will be no Treasurer's Report, President's Report, or New Business.  The only item on the agenda will be nominations and election of four delegates to attend the convention.  We regret the error and apologize for it.  The next General Membership Meeting will be held virtually on June 6th

About the AFSCME International Convention.  The AFSCME Convention is convened every two years.  The 2022 convention is being held July 11-15 in Philadelphia. The convention features guest speakers, educational workshops, and networking events.  It is an opportunity to meet union members from all over the United States, and learn about empowering union membership.

Local 1482 can send five delegates to the AFSCME Convention.  Ron Barber, Local 1482 President, is an automatic delegate.  Therefore, the nominations and election at the May 25th meeting will be for the four remaining delegates.  Local 1482 covers the costs of attending the Convention, but delegates have to use their own time (Annual Leave, Comp Time, etc) to attend.  All delegates attending the convention are required to follow Covid health and safety protocols as defined by AFSCME.
