Health & Pension Services Unit
The Health and Pension Services Unit assists and responds to members’ questions and inquiries about:
  • the various health insurance plans under the City’s Health Benefits Program;
  • the various pension tiers under the New York City Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS);
  • and DC 37 Med Team health insurance benefits.

Inquiry Unit
The Inquiry Unit answers questions about about the DC37 Health & Security Benefits listed above.  You may also call the Inquiry Unit to request claim forms.  The Inquiry Unit is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Forms Only Line:  Call this line only to request claim forms (dental forms, fee schedules, participating providers, optical vouchers, etc.).  212-815-1531
  • Inquiry Line.  Call this line to check eligibility for benefits, the status of claims such as dental or disability or other benefit information. 212-815-1234

Paid Family Leave
Paid Family Leave has been negotiated on behalf of DC37 members covered by the 2017-2021 economic agreement.  It provides job-protected paid time off so you can bond with a new born, adopted, or fostered child; care for a close relative with a servious health condition; or assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service.  Click on the link to access a Fact Sheet on Paid Family Leave.

More than 65 staff lawyers prepare free legal advice and representation, and prepares legal documents for a large range of civil legal matters.  The MELS benefit is exclusively for DC 37 members and retirees residing in certain areas of New York State.

AFSCMe Free College Benefit


In partnership with Eastern Gateway Community College in Ohio, AFSCME offers FREE online Associates Degrees in the Arts, Business Management and Criminal Justice.  Early Childhood Education will be available in 2017.  AFSCME's Free College Benefit is available to all members of AFSCME, which includes members of DC37 and Local 1482. It is 100% FREE!!!
